Baobab on the Planet of the Little Prince

Here is what Ayumi, Nanako, Yuki, and Koji had to say about baobabs after reading pages 1-27 of The Little Prince.

We have each opinion about baobab. “The good plants come from good seeds, and the bad plants from bad seeds. But the seeds are invisible” (14).

Ayumi thought that small baobab tree is child’s mental prblem. If baobab doesn’t have problem, it’ll grow up straight and planet is environment such as family or friend.

Nanako througt Prince took up the baobab for rose, but it effected other side of planet. Child have big power, and also she thought he took up the baobab before it become big.

Yuki thought he can imagine in the future, so he is wise that adult. Adult realize after the problem happened.

Koji throught he took it out not for rose, but for planet. Baobab will root in planet; it shows problem spread around environment. And also child always care small thing, but adult don’t care.

Which idea is similar to you?

My opinion is similar to Yuki.
Children don’t think what happen after they do something.
    They just do something.
Actually, when I was a junior high school student, I didn’t think very much about my future, but about what I wanted to do then.
On the other hand, now I think too much what will be happened in the future.
It’s hard, I want to be child again!

  2.   Nanako Says:

“The good plants come from good seeds.” I think it means that the good plants come from good behavior of prince. Therefore, the bad plants also come from bad behavior of prince. It’s my imagination.★

My opinion is similar to Ayumi.Seed means the growth of a child. S/he is born and at first, they are afraid of society, but they gradually contact with others, then their dreams come true. Good seeds becomes pure and imaginable children, on the other hand, bad seed becomes no-dreaming and realistic children. I think narraitor worries that children don’t have their dream, that they become individualstics and that they only seek for reality, status, fame, money like that.

  4.   Saori Says:

Koji’s opinion is similar to mine. I think children are much more sensitive than adults in various part so they notice even a trivial thing. They have curiosity to all the things they don’t know. It relates to his opinion “child always care small thing”.

  5.   Ayumi Says:

Our discussion was so interesting and exciting for me. everyone had difference opinion so I could know what I did’t think about. I can’t return to the past so I have to speculate about future from now, but I don’t need to be so careful. Children are strong. They have many interests. When children were about to miss the way of oneself, adults have only to hold out a hand.

  6.   Yuki Says:

I said, the little prince can imagine the future. But, now I got one more idea by reading everyone’s opinion.
Actually, he does not imagine the future because he is child. He is very sensitive, so he could notice something changed about baobab. However, Adult is used to face the problems through their long life. So they don’t care about small thing. It doesn’t matter for them.
    How about this idea?
