Why should the Little Prince continue his journey?
The characters in this section, except the Lamplighter, represent adults thoughts and attitudes. For example, the King is kind of human ego, the Businessman represents to gain money or benefit, so in this story, the stars show money. The geographer represents to be honor and the vain man represents self-loving. So all these people represent typical adults’ attitude and idea.
The Little Prince learned from the geographer that the flower is ephemeral and weak. He regrets about the flower. In our opinion, the Little Prince should go back to his planet in order to protect the flower, if he is worried about her.
Why did the Little Prince continue his journey though he was worried about the flower?

I think he loves the flower indeed. However, the world in outside of his planet is more attractive for him, I guess. Then, he can continue his journey for the flower. If there is true love, we can connect each other despite of the distance. Don’t you think so?
May 28th, 2008 at 1:15 amI think he fondled the flower so he wanted to tell her about the story of his journy not a daydream but an actual exprience. That’s why she was a baby she didn’t know out of the world so he also wanted to tell it.
May 28th, 2008 at 2:03 pmI have different opinion from them. I think he want to go bake to his planet. However, he doesn’t know how to treat th e flower, so he is looking for the solution or hint through this journey. Always he is thinking about the flower.
May 29th, 2008 at 8:03 amI also have a different opinion. He hoped to go back to his planet, after when he met various grown-ups, he knew that they were not only haughty but also kind. They were lonely and needed friends to talk to. He wanted to be one of friends for them and helped them. So, he continued to go far away. He wantede us to know that groun-ups were kind in part.
May 29th, 2008 at 9:04 amMy opinion contain both opinion because I think he wants to
go back his planet someday but he is also interested in
another world and know about another planet’s people or
something.
May 29th, 2008 at 9:37 pmTakayuki’s thinking is so nice! I think so too. If they love each other, distance is not related. Maybe, he wanted to learn more things about the other planet.
May 31st, 2008 at 10:38 pmWow, guys! So nice to read what you have to say! I’ve been rereading the little prince to join you in this discovery journey for the little one, and, certainly for us.
I truly believe, just some of you pointed out that once the Little Prince left his planet and had been experiencing so many different feelings, learning new things that he felt like exploring what was beyond his very little planet. In each planet, he learned about people, characteristics that seem so peculiar to him that his child mind wanted to go for more.
On the way, he also learned about his relationship with the flower. What did he really find out?
Eager to learn more from you.

June 2nd, 2008 at 5:31 amI agree with their opinion. The little prince wanted to go back his planet, of course, but he also wanted to be strong person who can protect the flower, so I think he coninued his journey.
June 4th, 2008 at 9:53 amDear Nanako,
Interesting aspect. Now, why do you think the little prince would become stronger by continuing his journey?
I’d love to learn more with you.
